Plugin overload
Every extra plugin adds code, update risk and potential security holes. We trim the list and replace some with simple custom code.
WORDPRESS DEVELOPMENT
WordPress is flexible, but a cluttered install with dozens of plugins gets slow and fragile. We build lean, custom WordPress themes with editing tools that make sense for the people using them.
OVERVIEW
WordPress powers a huge share of the web because it's easy to publish with and has a plugin for nearly everything. That second part is also where problems start. Too many plugins, a heavy multipurpose theme and a page builder stacked on top can leave you with a slow site that's scary to update.
We take a lighter approach. We build a custom theme around your design, create reusable content blocks for the layouts you actually use, and only add plugins that earn their place. Editors get clear fields and block options instead of a hundred settings they'll never touch.
We also fix and improve existing WordPress sites: speeding them up, cleaning out unused plugins, sorting out update conflicts and moving them to better hosting.
COMMON PROBLEMS
Every extra plugin adds code, update risk and potential security holes. We trim the list and replace some with simple custom code.
If you're nervous about clicking update, something is wrong. We test updates on staging before they touch the live site.
Heavy builders add a lot of markup. Custom blocks give editors flexibility with much lighter output.
Without set layouts, each new page drifts from the design. Reusable blocks keep everything on brand.
WHAT'S INCLUDED
A theme coded around your design, without the bloat of a multipurpose template.
Reusable blocks for heroes, features, testimonials and more, so editors can build pages that stay consistent.
Structured content for things like team members, projects, events or listings.
Store configuration, payment and shipping options, and templates matched to your theme.
Caching, image optimisation, login protection, limited user roles and regular backups.
Moving content from another platform or an old WordPress install into a clean new build.
HOW IT WORKS
We build on a staging copy of the site so nothing changes on your live domain until you've approved it. Content is either migrated from your current site or entered with you during the build, and editors get a short training session on the blocks we've created.
After launch, WordPress needs regular care: core, theme and plugin updates, backups and uptime checks. We can handle that on a maintenance plan, testing updates on staging first, or document it so your own team can do it.
Editors work with clear blocks and fields built for your content, not generic settings.
A smaller plugin list means fewer conflicts, fewer updates and less to go wrong.
Lean theme code and proper caching help pages load faster for visitors.
Standard WordPress practices mean any competent developer can pick up the code later.
OUR PROCESS
We review your content types, current plugins and how your team publishes today.
We define the layouts and blocks editors will need, based on the designs.
The custom theme, blocks and fields are developed and content is loaded in.
Your team tries publishing real pages while we test forms, speed and devices.
We go live, confirm everything works and agree how updates will be handled.
Chosen to fit the project. We'll use your existing tools where they do the job.

We usually build with native Gutenberg blocks because they're lighter. If your team already relies on a builder and wants to keep it, we can discuss the trade-offs and work with it.
Often, yes. We'll audit it first. If the problems are mostly plugins, hosting or speed, a cleanup can be enough. If the theme itself is the issue, a rebuild may cost less in the long run.
We can on a maintenance plan, testing updates on staging first. Or we'll show your team how to do it safely.
It can be, as long as it's kept updated, uses trusted plugins and has sensible logins and backups. Most problems we see come from neglected installs.
